But this corner isn’t just about spotlighting, it’s about connecting. It’s a space where affiliates can feel seen, heard, and inspired. It’s designed to foster a sense of belonging while encouraging the exchange of insights and fresh ideas.
In each issue, we highlight individuals who stand out for their engagement, innovation, and commitment. Through brief interviews and personal stories, this section offers a glimpse into the motivations, accomplishments, and impact of those who support and enhance our community in unique ways.
Who do you represent and how long have you been in your industry?
I serve as the Director of Operations at enSYNC Corporation, a consulting firm dedicated to helping associations and nonprofits achieve their goals through smarter technology and strategy. We specialize in Sage Intacct, iMIS, integrated solutions, and strategic consulting designed to strengthen operations and boost member engagement. One of my favorite enSYNC offerings is our Association Operations Services, where we provide flexible support, including help with seasonal work, a special event or project, or to fill a staffing gap.
My own journey began in the association community in 2010, where I gained firsthand experience in the challenges and opportunities associations face. In 2022, I transitioned to consulting, where I now apply that background to help organizations maximize their impact.
What is your most memorable event?
My most memorable event was the process of studying for the Certified Association Executive (CAE) exam. From the amazing people who encouraged me to take it to my fellow study buddies, the experience created lifelong friendships. Preparing for the exam was intense; I even cried in the bathroom during the test! Passing it was an incredible feeling, but the journey didn’t end there. Today, I love mentoring others and encouraging them to take their own CAE journey.
What is your biggest challenge in your job?
One of the biggest challenges in my role is managing the unknowns that naturally arise in consulting and operations. This includes navigating situations where priorities evolve quickly, projects begin before all information is available, or new variables emerge unexpectedly. The key is staying flexible, maintaining clear communication, and helping both our team and clients stay aligned so we can respond efficiently. As one of my mentors says, we need to keep the focus on, “What is our desired outcome?” to turn ideas into success. Turning these unknowns into opportunities to problem-solve and innovate is rewarding and keeps each day dynamic.
Tell us one thing we may not know about you.
I made the Association of Texas Small School Bands All State Band sophomore through senior year. At that point, I wanted to be a music therapist, but life had other plans for me. Music taught me the importance of perseverance, teamwork, and discipline, lessons I still carry into my work every day. Next time you see me, ask me what instrument I played!
What trends or challenges do you see shaping the future of your field?
Challenges like technology debt, staffing gaps, and limited resources are still with us, but new tools like AI and automation are changing the game. They help teams work smarter, make better decisions, deliver better experiences, and focus on what matters most: serving members. The future of association operations will blend experience with these tools to solve old problems in fresh, innovative ways while keeping up with evolving member expectations and the increasing importance of data-driven insights.
In your opinion, what role do affiliate members play in the growth and success of the association industry?
Affiliate members should be key partners in the association industry. We are not just here to make a sale. Our goal is to help associations succeed by providing thought leadership, sharing insights, best practices, and innovative approaches that organizations can learn from and apply. Whether we provide technology, consulting, event support, hospitality services, or other goods and services, we aim to strengthen the entire community. Don’t hesitate to ask questions or seek guidance. We are here to help associations work more efficiently, engage members more effectively, and grow, innovate, and thrive in an ever-changing industry.
