trevor mitchell

Trevor Mitchell, MBA, FASAE, CAE, CDP

President & CEO
International Association of Venue Managers
Irving, TX

Trevor completes his six year-term on the TSAE Board of Directors. He initially completed his three-year term as a director on the Board of Directors in 2022 before starting his three-year officer journey in 2022-2023, serving as Chair-Elect, then 2023-2024 as Board Chair, and completing his officer term in 2024-2025 as Immediate Past Chair. During his tenure on the Board of Directors, Trevor led the TSAE Diversity & Inclusion initiative – serving as an initiative leader of this subgroup of the Board, his first year serving as director. This initiative group held focus groups at the New Ideas Annual Conference to allow members to provide direct feedback to Board members on TSAE DEI Initiatives. From that feedback, this group drafted TSAE’s first ever DEI Survey. This group also was instrumental in crafting TSAE’s DEI Position Statement in 2020. In addition, this group helped create TSAE’s first DEI Committee, finalized the annual DEI Assessment Tool, and released the tool to the entire membership for use. In 2021, Trevor served as lead for the Operationalizing 2021 Strategic Initiatives, helping identify the work done to accomplish the initiatives identified by the 2021-2022 Board of Directors. He was also one of the three officers in the summer of 2022 that helped guide TSAE in developing its first strategic plan in over a decade. During his time as chair, he led the 2023 Summer Board Retreat and helped create data points to use in the Board Evaluation Report Card to help leadership measure the engagement levels of the TSAE Board of Directors.

During her time on the TSAE Board of Directors, Ginger, in 2022, served on the Strategic Initiative Project of Leveraging Data to Align Priorities with Capacity and assisted with the creation of a meetings and events assessment tool to help TSAE align their priorities with staff capacity, identifying projects for abandonment and reimagining. In 2023, she became the lead on Empowering Innovation Through Risk Strategic Initiative. With her leadership, this group helped define what risk means for TSAE and influenced the way TSAE takes risk.

Austin, TX

Alysia served on the Strategic Initiative Project Empowering Innovation Through Risk-Taking. She helped TSAE understand what risk means for TSAE and defining ways for TSAE to be innovative while avoiding unnecessary risk. Alysia also was the first affiliate member to hold an Executive Committee Member role within TSAE. After the bylaw change in late 2024, TSAE established a Foresight Officer as a member of the TSAE Executive Committee. Alysia was the first person to serve in that role, with a responsibility of leading a foresight discussion at every board meeting and, with an eye to the future, help prepare TSAE for what is on the horizon.

lauren turner

Lauren Turner, CAE, CMP

Account Director
Strategic Association Management
Austin, TX

During Lauren’s Board service, she served as a member of the 2022 Strategic Initiative Group: Advancing DEI to Foster Community & Member Success. In 2023, Lauren served as Strategic Lead on the Strategic Initiative Project Leveraging Data to Align Priorities with Capacity, continuing the work of helping TSAE staff identify future projects variability based on existing capacity while still trying new projects every year. Lauren also held the “unofficial” role of Board Historian as nobody was safe when Lauren had her camera. Thanks to Lauren, TSAE has some fantastic pictures of Board members working and creating a sense of community during her service.

We thank each of these individuals for their contributions to TSAE and helping us remain Better Together. Interested in serving on the TSAE Board of Directors? Nominations are open at the 2025 New Ideas Annual Conference, so be on the lookout as to how you can nominate yourself or a colleague to help drive the strategic direction of TSAE.
