In Memoriam: James “Jim” Eslie Shillingburg

Past TSAE Chair James “Jim” Eslie Shillingburg died on December 23, 2020 at age 83. He was a teacher and football coach who worked summers on oil rigs and drove tanker trucks before he began working in Austin for the Texas Motor Transportation Association lobbying at the Texas State Capitol and in Washington, D.C., on legislative matters concerning the truck and bus industry. In 1986, he became executive vice president and CEO of Texas Oil Marketers, a trade association of mom and pop service stations and convenience stores. He chaired the TSAE Board of Directors in 1983-84. He is survived by his wife Sally Taylor Shillingburg, five children and step-children, 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
