In Memoriam: Dr. Lou Goodman

On Friday, July 31, Dr. Lou Goodman passed away. Dr. Goodman, better known to his industry family as “Lou,” was a well-respected leader in our TSAE family. He served as TSAE Board Chair from 2003-2004 and was also named TSAE’s Distinguished Executive Award winner in 2008. He served as the executive vice president and CEO of the Texas Medical Association for 22 years, representing 53,000 physician and medical student members. He was recently honored for his leadership at TMA with the renaming of the Texas Medical Association building in downtown Austin to the “Louis J. Goodman Texas Medical Association Building.”

Lou, a former CAE, was not only an advocate for the Texas medical community but also for our industry of association management. As well as serving as chair of TSAE, he was active in numerous roles on TSAE committees and task forces that helped drive TSAE forward. He was a loving father, husband, grandfather, brother, cousin, uncle and friend.
