TSAE Members Answer the Question: What Are Ways That You Are Building Resilience to Help Navigate Change?
THE BEST THING that I have done for myself is to build and maintain a supportive network. By attending a variety of events, I have met so many people from other destinations who have similar experiences and can relate to my day to day. We rely upon each other and offer each other support in times of change. We celebrate each other’s accomplishments together in our professional and personal lives and it strengthens our bonds. They provide me with an extra level of confidence and always share helpful feedback when I am navigating a change and have questions.

Change is constant, so I like to focus on helping my team remove obstacles to move forward. Our team focuses on professional development, empowering staff, and fostering open communication to stay prepared for a variety of situations. It is easy to focus on the negative, so trying to shif t your perspective to see challenges as opportunities helps as well. And finally, we celebrate our successes regularly, even if that success is something we learned that some would see as a failure.

Stay curious! A mindset open to growth is key to embracing change and persevering through obstacles. The last few years have really shown me that seeking out different perspectives, asking exploratory questions, and being willing to try new things can help transform challenges into opportunities.
– Kelly George, Strategic Association Management
As I work to build resilience in navigating change, I have been embracing the adaptation to new ideas and thinking creatively. I have launched initiatives to foster connections between our members and new individuals, including hosting the TXCPA Houston Virtual Rolodex podcast. This podcast has been instrumental in creating meaningful relationships within our community, including international guests. Additionally, I developed a sponsorship program to expand visibility and collaboration with a diverse array of organizations that may have previously been outside our network. I believe resilience is enhanced through collaboration, as everyone can benefit from working together – even in unexpected ways.
