Members Answer the Question: What is Your Favorite Artificial Intelligence (AI) Tool and Why?

I USE CHATGPT daily, in a variety of ways. Through all of the wonderful training I’ve received through TSAE and industry colleagues, I’ve learned to customize my platform to know and understand the challenges I face in my role and the overarching dynamics of my organization. The more I use it, the better it helps me accomplish day-to-day tasks, as well as higher-level strategic items.

Our team uses ChatGPT. We have upgraded to business and can connect email, Asana, and Slack, which I think will be helpful when we’ve figured it all out. My favorite tool aside from that is Gamma, which is a slide maker (but now also flyers, websites, etc.) that uses prompts like ChatGPT but creates full presentations and content. It’s been really helpful for me in designing new presentations, updating the “look and feel” of the presentations, and ensuring I’m hitting all the facilitation best practices in my sessions (i.e., I always forget an agenda and wrap-up “what we talked about” slide).

Like many people, I use ChatGPT to help improve efficiency and productivity. It’s still one of my favorite AI tools, but I’ve also become a big fan of Synthesia Video Generator. It allows us to create training videos by uploading PowerPoints or Canva slides, adding an AI voiceover, and generating a finished video in minutes. The best part? If something needs to change, you simply update the script and regenerate the video – no need to re-record the entire thing. A HUGE time-saver!

After attending the AI conference, I started using Outlook Copilot. It requires me to enter my to-do list electronically instead of using my old trusty paper notebook. But the upside is that it sends reminders and syncs with my phone.

In terms of writing or marketing tools, I love everything about Grammarly and its AI functionality. Besides live editing your copy in any application (the plugin works everywhere you’re typing, so you don’t need to go to a separate website), you can also use it to enhance or rewrite text. I appreciate that you can customize your settings to match your personal writing style, so suggestions are tailored to your voice, and your text keeps its personal touch. I also think it’s a great learning tool for improving my writing, in addition to offering the content creation that saves everyone time.

My favorite AI tool is NotebookLM. Unlike general chatbots that guess based on the whole internet, NotebookLM is “grounded” in the specific documents you give it. It’s like having a brilliant assistant who has actually read your entire 500-page policy manual and doesn’t need a coffee break. For me, it’s a massive time-saver for:

  • Board Governance: Upload years of board minutes to instantly find when a policy was last changed, complete with direct citations.
  • On-the-Go Briefings: Use the «Audio Overview» to turn dry legislative updates or white papers into a 10-minute podcast for my morning commute.
  • Content Repurposing: Drop in a webinar transcript and ask it to generate a member FAQ, a newsletter blurb, and a study guide in seconds.
  • Bonus is that it keeps my association’s data private while acting as a “closed-loop” brain for my most important files.
